Do you know what’s the 80/20 rule? If so, do you know how it applies to vision therapy?

The 80/20 rule states that for everything that you do, 20% of your effort results in 80% of your achievements, while the rest of the 80% of your effort results in the rest of the 20%. This rule generally applies to any type of endeavour you undertake.

Businesses often generate 80% of their revenue from 20% of their customers. Body builders built 80% their muscles from 20% of their workouts. And people who rebuilt their vision have 20% of the eye exercises to thank for 80% of the result.

The problem, of course, people often don’t know which 20% the cause is responsible for 80% of the result. In this article, I want to show you the essentials of vision therapy – the things that if you implement, will generate 80% of the improvements you’ll see. Ready yet?

Reduce the amount of time you wear your glasses. If at all possible, get rid of it all together. If you can’t see without your glasses, then at least get one with lower degree – about 2 -3 degrees lower. Your glasses are like crutches – if you don’t get rid of them, your eyes will never again learn to see. Doing eye exercises all day long wouldn’t do you any good if you don’t first do this.

Breathe. Believe it or not, holding breath is a much more common practice than you think. Try this: Every time you feel stressed out (stress is the most common cause of bad vision), close your eyes, keep your lips close but leave your teeth apart and breathe abdominally. Do this for a short 5 minutes and you’ll be all relaxed.

Palm. This is probably the most effective vision therapy out there and it’s easy to implement. Close your eyes and place your palm over them to block out the lights. Breathe. When you palm, imagine anything that would relax you. It’s a good idea to set a timer for this practice or you’ll always be wondering how long you’ve done it for – which then in counter-productive. I prefer to palm for at least 10 minutes, three times a day… or anytime I want to relax.

Stop wearing sunglasses (unless absolutely necessary) and expose your eyes to sunlight. Too little sunlight is just as harmful as too much. Every morning, when the sun is at its gentlest, close your eyes and face the sun. While you’re sunning, slowly swing your head sideways. How long you do this is up to you but always remember to stop if it hurts. Sunning is a relaxing exercise and if it hurts, that means the sun is too strong.

So there, 4 steps to a more effective vision therapy. Do this 4 things and you’ll probably accomplish 80% of your vision improvement attempt. The problem, of course, is that you have to implement it religiously – which many people fail to.

If by “secret”, you’re looking for magic bullets, then I’m sorry to have misled you. The “secret” I’m talking will certainly will you improve your vision through eye vision exercises but it will in no way improve them immediately.

In fact, the secret I’m about to reveal to you is about keeping you motivated for the long term. You see, natural vision improvement is a lengthy process and if you don’t keep yourself motivated long enough… you’re going to give up and fail. Then you’ll claim that eye exercises don’t work!

From my experience, that’s where most people fall.

So how do you keep yourself motivated for the long term?

For starters, you’d want to enjoy the process, not just the goal! This applies to all parts of your life. If you HATE doing something, you just wouldn’t bring yourself to do it.

For example, people who are healthy are healthy because that’s their goal… sure that’s part of the reason, but for the most part, they are healthy because they LOVE their greens and exercising.

Do you get what I mean?

So ask yourself this question. What can I do to make eye vision exercises fun? You can listen to music, do it when you’re in a hot tub or burn some essential oils to relax yourself! I personally snack and listen to my favorite music when I perform eye vision exercises!

Do whatever it takes to get you motivated and you’ll be on your way to perfect vision.

Mornings are the best time to do anything beneficial. Things like eating a healthy breakfast, exercising and if you’re religious, praying. This is because doing something in the morning sets the tone for the rest of the day.

If you ate healthily in the morning, you are less likely to eat unhealthily later in the day. On the other hand, if you ate unhealthily in the morning, you’d probably eat things equally unhealthy later in the day. There’s a psychological theory about this kind behaviour but I’m not going into that.

Now, if you to rebuild your vision, it is absolutely essential to create habits. You can do it in 24 hours and expect results. That’s for sure. By creating habits, you practically ensure you’re in this for the long haul.

So every morning you wake up, I want you to drink a big glass of water and instad of continuing with your daily routine, palm for at least 10 minutes. It will relax your eyes and set this tone for the rest of the day.

But why morning? Didn’t my eyes already relaxed when I was asleep. This is, of course, a popular myth. Your eyes don’t “relax” when you’re asleep.

I’d to start this post by apologizing for my long absence since the last post. I was busy moving house and holidaying in Egypt.

And during that period of absence, I’ve received a considerable amount of emails asking me various questions which I will address in the future. For now, let’s settle the 2 most popular ones.

Q1. I’ve been doing this for X amount time, why haven’t I see any improvement?

Q2. How long will I need to do the exercises before I see improvement?

The two questions is essentially the same. The only difference being, the people who asked the first one has done the exercises and the people who who asked the second questions, haven’t.

Here’s my answer. There’s no way anyone could predict or even estimate how long it will be before you see any results. It depends on how well you do it, how persistent you are, how bad is your condition and of course, yourself (everyone is unique).

Some people saw results in as fast as a week. Some take 5 years. I personally took 8 months of continuous performance and I’m not even totally glasses free yet as of now.

Here’s my advise to you. Keep a log. Record your progress every 3 days, or perhaps once every week. Sometimes you can discover small improvements that you might not have other wise noticed (I still do this). And that small encouragement is crucial for you to keep doing what’s good for your eyes.

Believe me, I know how important that log is. I’ve thought about giving up (and I did so for the first year in trying to improve my eyesight) simply because I can’t see any improvements.

Now, I know for a fact that you guys would want to know at least the longest period of time someone takes to see some sort of improvement. Here it is.

You should at least see a small amount of improvement in your log if you religiously perform the eye exercises for 30 days. If you don’t, please, feel free to request a refund. I don’t want to be taking your money if the stuff I’m recommending doesn’t work for you.

People improved their eyesight often tell me that the world seems “flatter” for some reason when they wore glasses. Thinking back, I also had the same experience.

You see, when you wear glasses, the world seems less 3-D. It’s more like a photograph sometimes… I know this is difficult to grasp but hear me out.

When I first looked into imprving my eyesight naturally several years ago, I read a paragraph that, simple as it may sound, is somehow enlightening.

Here’s what it says: When you move, your surrounding should appear to be moving in the opposite direction.

Common sense right? Of course they don’t actually move, but they appear to do so. In other words, when you shift your eyes from left to right, stationary objects around you should appear to move from right to left.

But for you myopics, can you honestly tell me you experienced that? Thinking back, I never realized this to be true. Everything seems stationary to me, which, years later I found out, is part of the reason why my eyesight is so bad.

Dr. Bates discovered that this illusion, stationary objects appearing to move is crucial for perfect vision. They are the natural way of seeing, but as you stare, you causes strain that takes away that effect.

The result? A “flatter” world and more strain.

So what you do about it? If you didn’t read my post about how your mind is connected to eyes, you can read it through the link. You see, all you have to is imagine that things are moving in the opposite direction consciously. Do it every waking hour and everyday of the week.

And before you know it, it’s part of your subconscious and you’ll be able to see naturally again.

Did you know that your iris enlarge when you see someone or something attractive? And that they shrink when you see someone or something unattrative?

I know, it sounds cruel but the fact is, your body literally wanted to see less of ugly things and/or people.

This phenomenon implies that there’s a very strong connection between your mind and your sight. Studies have shown that your eyes react to what your mind thinks.

In other words, your iris enlarge when you’re fantasizing… and your iris shrink when you’re having nightmares. Your eyes don’t rest when you are asleep. It “sees” whatever is in your mind.

So if you’re someone who’s thinking about work whole day long (even when you’re resting and sleeping), it’s natural that your eyes strains itself because it is “looking” at things that you don’t like.

Why am I telling you all these?

That’s a good question. Because you see, if you ever want to improve your vision, it all begins in your mind. In this case, you really get what you think.

One of the most beneficial habits you can pick up is meditation. Meditation relaxes your eyes and therefore tremendously helps in improving your vision. To meditate, simply sit down in a comfortable position and direct your thoughts to your breath.

This can be difficult to do when you’re just starting out but practice makes perfect. A simple 10 – 15 minutes meditation a day is enough when you’re starting out. I personally meditate 4 times a day, 15 minutes each time.

Resting their eyes is one those crucial activities most people don’t do. I admit that I often forget about them too.

But I can tell you that doing any near point activities, for a prolonged period of time, is harmful for you eyes. That includes staring at your monitor, watching tv, cooking, housework, reading and so on. You get the idea.

The rule is to dedicate 1 minute to rest your eyes for every 10 minutes of work. I generally opt to rest 3 minutes for every 30 minutes.

Yes, I know sometimes the ball is rolling and you’re so engrossed working that if you stop, you’ll lose your momentum. This is a huge I discovered by trying to take a break.

Most of us when engrossed would work for hours, non-stop. What you didn’t know is that your productivity slowly decreases over time. Some productivity gurus teach a series of alternate engage-disengage to maximize results.

Work 2 hours. Stop 30 minutes. And so on. I personally found 30 minutes – 3 minutes cycle works better for me. Try it and see.

So what do I do in that 3 minutes of rest? I simply look out the window and get my eyes see as far as possible. If I’m in an enclosed area, I palm. This habit alone has been a great boon in my efforts to rebuild my vision.

I learned this technique from the Rebuild Your Vision Program and it is just one of the many Orlin revealed inside. It’s no wonder that it’s working so well.

That is why I’ve created this blog. To compile the information I’ve found out and to share the experience I’ve had. But since I’ve started this blog, I’ve got a few requests from readers.

I normally post one idea at a time so as to be as concise as possible. The requests wanted me to post an all inclusive guide to how to improve eyesight. I’m afraid I can’t go into great detail because that will require a while book to do.

So what I’m going to do instead, is to write a short guide instead. This way, you can get the information right away and act upon immediately. No consuming pages and pages of information you don’t really need.

Here goes.

1. It’s vital that you drastically reduce the amount of time you use your glasses. It’s not a choice.

If you’re myopic, then you shouldn’t wear glasses when you’re doing near point activities such as reading and writing. The same goes if you are far-sighted.

Glasses are crutches. If you keep wearing them, you’ll not improve your eyesight. In fact, your eyesight will deteriorate. You would already know this if you’ve been wearing glasses for a few years.

2. You have to realize that stress is not only bad for you as a whole, it’s also bad for your eyes specifically.

The best way to relax that I’m aware of is none other than meditation. Some people do yoga but I’m not into that. A simple meditation, one where you sit down in a comfortable position, shut your eyes and focus your thoughts on your breath is good enough.

When you finish a 10 – 15 minutes session, you’ll find that not only are you relaxed, your eyes are also fresh.

3. If you want to improve eyesight, you’ll need to give it nutrients necessary for improvement. Makes sense right? But contrary to what you may have heard, the most important nutrient for your eyes is… the sunlight!

That’s right. Your sunglasses might be doing more harm than good. If you spend hours upon hours out under the sun (like a lifeguard), sure you might need sunglasses. But if you stay indoors all the time (like most of us), then you might be suffering from sunlight deprivation.

That little time you are exposed to sunlight you try to block it by using sunglasses.

Here’s a newsflash: Moderate exposure (20 – 30 minutes a day) to sunlight is vital to not only to your eyes, it’s also vital for overall health.

4. Don’t stare or do any kind of “trick” vision like squinting. These practices strains the eyes like you would if you keep it opened when it’s tired.

There you go. A short guide on how to improve eyesight naturally. I hope they help you. remember, these habits alone are not enough to improve eyesight. They have to be done is addition to eye exercises.

P.S If you want to delve deeper into the details and discover more tips and tricks there’s two places you can go. You can either go to my Squidoo lens on how you can rebuild your vision, or you can brwose more posts here in Rebuild Your Vision Naturally blog.

To naturally improve vision, it’s only crucial that you do eye exercises; it’s also crucial that you pick up good vision habits and consume supplements that help your eyes.

The exercises in the Rebuild Your Vision program are designed to help you pick up good vision habits so you can subconsciously see things the way nature intended. Once these techniques are part of your habit, your eyes will view things naturally and in relaxed mode.

You longer will you experience fatigued eyes. It’s like your other senses. Your nose, ears, tongue and skin are never tired but your eyes do. That is because effort was put into the way you see. If you keep it relax and just let it happen, not only will you have perfect vision and fresh eyes, you’ll also notice that you’ll have less headache.
